True Blood: Marketing

Concept / Design

The popular HBO show True Blood has always been very self aware of how outrageous it can be, and the marketing campaigns have mirrored this aspect of the show well. For season 3, the concept was "This is a failed marketing campaign. Sorry."

It's a meta sort of campaign, an apologists dream come true, or a PR persons worst nightmare.

In these pitch frames, HBO apologizes to everyone for the awful marketing stunts they pulled for the show, such as painting permanent vampire bite marks on George Washington at Mount Rushmore, dyeing the water blood red at the local zoo freaking out kids and annoying the polar bears, and selling poorly conceived games of Twister: True Blood Edition ® to unsuspecting customers.

Sorry :c

True Blood is an American dark fantasy horror television series by HBO produced and created by Alan Ball and based on The Southern Vampire Mysteries series of novels by Charlaine Harris. These tongue-in-cheek meta concepts were created for a marketing campaign. The concept summarized into one sentence is:

"We fucked up. Sorry."
